Profile
As a senior researcher and teacher at the Sociology department at the UvA, I'm currently involved in etnographic, longitudinal and participatory research projects and courses about health, families, children and youth in diverse urban contexts and I’m particularly interested in health, gender, risk and trust. I'm also involved in participatory and policy networks in Noord-Holland and Flevoland.
In my PhD research, I have investigated constructions of risk and gender in health and family policies, and between pre- and postnatal health care professionals and (new) parents in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland.
Previously, I've been involved in research and policy writing and in family therapy within the forensic youth psychiatry sector in Amsterdam. My experience with professional work, children and youth, family relations and psychosocial problems in an urban and forensic context is useful to my present role in engaging with various families and professionals.
I'm engaged in writing in various forms and for various audiences. -
