    Ik ben taalwetenschapper (met een focus op meertaligheid en cognitie) en postdoctoraal onderzoeker in het NWO project Crossing Language Borders: A Quest for the Human Language Capacity in West Africa and Central America, een samenwerking tussen onderzoekers van het ACLC, het LUCL in Leiden, en UC San Diego. Dit onderzoeksproject probeert meer te weten te komen over hoe meertaligen in Belize (Midden-Amerika) en Benin (West-Afrika) zich mentaal aanpassen aan hun meertalige omgeving, waar het de norm is om talen te verweven met elkaar wanneer je spreekt. 

    Mijn PhD bij het Center for Language and Cognition Groningen aan de Rijksuniversiteit Groningen rondde ik af in 2024. In die tijd was ik lid en coördinator van het Bilingualism and Aging Lab (PI: prof. dr. Merel Keijzer).

    Mijn onderzoeksinteresse ligt bij de relatie tussen meertaligheid, cognitie en de hersenen in zijn algemeenheid. De afgelopen jaren heb ik een specifieke interesse ontwikkeld in hoe de (sociolinguïstische) omgeving inspeelt op deze relatie. Daarnaast ben ik ook gefascineerd door wat meertaligheid, zowel levenslange meertaligheid als het leren van een taal op latere leeftijd, kan betekenen voor gezond ouder worden.
