I coordinate the courses “Criminalistics and Analytical Chemistry” and “Chain of Evidence” in the Master Forensic Science.
My background is in bioanalytical chemistry and I earned my PhD at the Utrecht University, working on the role of steroid hormone metabolism in target tissues. During post-doctoral work I got involved and interested in forensic application of bioanalytical techniques and forensic science in general.
As a result, I joined the Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI) and was trained as a reporting scientist on human DNA-analysis, and worked as a coordinator for Research and Development. After that, I got involved in forensic consultancy and worked at Verilabs as a forensic DNA expert and registered as a court expert (NRGD).
