    Biography

Hanneke Creemers (1979) studied Psychology at Maastricht University. As part of her studies, she performed a research traineeship at the VU University in Amsterdam (2002) focusing on disordered impulse control in alcoholics and pathological gamblers, and a clinical traineeship at the Centro Italiano di Solidarietà di Roma in Italy (2003), in a therapeutic community for drug addicts. At the end of 2003 she obtained her MA in Biological Psychology.

In 2004 she entered a PhD-program at the Erasmus Medical Center – Sophia Children’s Hospital in Rotterdam, at the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. The first two years of this program she contributed to the data collection of the Tracking Adolescents’ Individual Lives Survey (TRAILS), an ongoing cohort study on the psychological, social and physical development of children towards adulthood, at the University Medical Center in Groningen. From September 2006 -2009 she wrote her dissertation (‘High times – The role of temperament and other risk factors in the onset and continuation of cannabis use during adolescence’, PhD defense: March 2010), and worked as a psychologist at the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

From January 2010 to October 2012 she worked as a postdoctoral researcher at the department of Educational Sciences at the University of Amsterdam, with a research focus on the etiology and diagnostics of adolescent substance use. From November 2012 she works as an assistant professor at Forensic Youth Care Sciences at this same department.
