Profile
Cynthia Dekker is a PhD candidate in the program group Youth & Media Entertainment at the University of Amsterdam (ASCoR). Her PhD project focuses on how the deep integration of smartphones into our everyday lives impacts individuals’ daily functioning and (digital) well-being. In particular, she is interested in the role of specific design features such as notifications.
Before starting her PhD, Cynthia studied Philosophy (BA, Leiden University) and Communication Science (BSc & MSc Research, University of Amsterdam). She is currently also a member of the NeFCA Young Scholars Network Steering Committee.
