    Curriculum Vitae

    I studied physics in Leiden, where I obtained a master degree in theoretical (condensed matter) physics under the supervision of Jan Zaanen. The subject of my thesis was the devilish fermion sign problem (classified as NP hard...I didn't solve it)
    I decided to pursue a Ph.D in experimental physics and was lucky to find a great environment in the group of Dirk van der Marel, who had just moved from the University of Groningen to the University of Geneva.
    The subject of my thesis was optical spectroscopy of cuprate high Tc superconductors. I implemented a technique to extract the glue, binding electrons into Cooper pairs, from optical spectra. The main results and my contribution to the study of the high Tc phenomena was awarded with the IBM prize for condensed matter physics from the Swiss Physical Society.
    I am now a postdoc in the group of Mark Golden, working on a VENI grant from NWO. I intend to implement similar techniques used in my thesis in order to perform a combined analysisof optical, angle resolved photoemission and scanning tunneling spectroscopies.
