Ik ben Universitair Hoofddocent aan de Afdeling Politicologie van de Universiteit van Amsterdam. Ik ben lid en sinds juli 2020 mede-programmagroepleider van de AISSR programmagroep Political Economy and Transnational Governance.
Mijn onderzoek richt zich op de politiek van de verzorgingsstaat in relatie tot gender, zorg, migratie en de vertegenwoordiging van werknemers. Ik heb onderzoek gedaan naar de de rol van en politieke reacties op migranten als werknemers in de zorg, naar de reacties van verschillende verzorgingsstaten op economische crises en naar politieke besluitvorming rondom huishoudelijk werk. Mijn huidige onderzoek richt zich op de politieke vertegenwoordiging en invloed van werknemers in verschillende soorten zorg, waaronder ouderenzorg, kinderopvang en huishoudelijk werk. Sinds september 2021 ben ik Opleidingsdirecteur van de Social Science Research Master, een selectieve tweejarige master die studenten opleidt tot sociaal wetenschappelijk onderzoeker. Ik geef daarnaast onderwijs in op het gebied van politiek en ongelijkheid, sociaal beleid, vergelijkende politicologie en onderzoeksmethoden in de Bachelor en Master Political Science.
