Dr. Mathias Holvoet is docent internationaal strafrecht aan de Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA). Hij is uitvoerig betrokken bij het doceren en/of coördineren van de volgende vak die deel uitmaken van de UvA-masterprogramma's internationaal strafrecht: Jurisdiction and Cooperation in Criminal Matters, International Criminal Law Practice, International Criminal Tribunals - Substantive Law en Transnational Criminal Law. Verder is hij betrokken als begeleider van zowel masterscripties en de Criminal Justice Clinic van de Amsterdam Law Clinics (ALC).
Mathias behaalde een doctoraal proefschrift in het internationaal strafrecht (2018) aan de Vrije Universiteit Brussel, België.
Mathias heeft daarnaast uitgebreide praktijkervaring opgedaan binnen het internationaal strafrecht, zowel als Visiting Professional binnen de Trial Chambers van het Internationaal Strafhof (2017) en als parketjurist werkend rond internationale en Europese samenwerking in strafzaken en de vervolging van internationale kernmisdrijven bij het Federaal Parket van België.
