    Geert Janssen is hoogleraar Vroegmoderne Geschiedenis. Hij heeft een brede interesse in de geschiedenis van Europa tussen 1500 en 1800, in het bijzonder haar politieke en religieuze cultuur en de geschiedenis van migratie.  Zijn expertise betreft vooral de Nederlanden in deze periode, waaronder de Nederlandse Opstand en Gouden Eeuw.
