My research focuses on sustainable functioning in contemporary work and organizational life. I examine how people manage their energy, motivation, and engagement while navigating changing demands, roles, and social expectations. A central theme in my work is the tension between striving and sustaining: how individuals pursue meaningful goals and remain engaged while managing the capacities that make such engagement possible over time. I am especially interested in the psychological and social processes through which people notice, interpret, and respond to their energy; how norms around availability, flexibility, and productivity shape work-life boundaries; and how gendered and intergenerational expectations influence career experiences, ambition, and well-being. I also examine how emerging work preferences and practices - including stronger boundaries, flexible career choices, and self-care strategies - may be misunderstood or evaluated against traditional expectations of work and commitment.
