David Mulder is a PhD candidate in the history of religion and Celtic studies. His PhD-research project on the cosmology and environmental history of medieval Ireland is supervised by Dr Jacqueline Borsje, Prof. Dr Daniëlle Slootjes, and Prof. Dr Gregory Toner (Queen's University Belfast). The project engages with didactic, aesthetic and ethical learning about the confluence of nature and the supernatural in medieval Ireland by looking at what forms of knowledge are presented in three case studies of the eleventh-/twelfth-century corpus of Dindshenchas Érenn ('History of Notable Places of Ireland').

Prior to starting his PhD-research, David obtained his BA in Religious Studies and RMA in Theology and Religious Studies at the University of Amsterdam, after which he read medieval Celtic languages at Utrecht University and the Dublin Institute for Advanced Studies.
