    Prof. dr. ir. P.P.C.C. (Peter-Paul) Verbeek (1970) is rector magnificus en lid van het College van Bestuur van de Universiteit van Amsterdam.

    Daarnaast is Verbeek hoogleraar Filosofie en Ethiek van Wetenschap en Technologie in een Veranderende Wereld aan de UvA. Rode draad in het onderzoek en werk van Peter-Paul Verbeek is de relatie tussen mens en technologie, bekeken vanuit ethisch oogpunt.

    Tot oktober 2022 was hij universiteitshoogleraar Filosofie van Mens en Techniek bij de afdeling Filosofie en wetenschappelijk mededirecteur van het DesignLab aan de Universiteit Twente, en honorair hoogleraar Techno-Anthropologie aan de Universiteit Aalborg, Denemarken.

    Hij is momenteel een van de zes hoofdonderzoekers van een tienjarig onderzoeksprogramma over de ethiek van sociaal disruptieve technologieën (ESDiT). Hij is tevens voorzitter van de UNESCO World Commission for the Ethics of Scientific Knowledge and Technology (COMEST) en voorzitter van de ECP begeleidingscommissie Ethiek en Digitalisering. Ook was hij onder meer vice-voorzitter van het bestuur van het Rathenau Instituut en voorzitter van de KNAW Commissie voor de Vrijheid van Wetenschapsbeoefening.
