The Labour Inspectorate is currently investigating how the workload at Dutch universities can be controlled and reduced. In the upcoming months, the Inspectorate will also visit the UvA in the context of this research. This acts as a follow-up to an earlier visit where shortcomings were identified.

The Central Works Council (COR) has indicated that it will make use of the right to accompany the Labour Inspectorate in this process. In the context of the research, the Inspectorate will interview multiple stakeholders, including two faculties, a support service, the Executive Board (CvB), and the COR.

Within the COR, psychosocial workload (more specifically work pressure and undesirable behaviour) has been an important theme for a long time, and is therefore a regular topic of discussion with the board. The effectiveness of the policies and their impact on employees are core topics in those conversations.

If you would like to know more about this topic, feel free to reach out to the Works Council via cor-uva@uva.nl.
