Recently, the Dutch Labour Inspectorate visited the University of Amsterdam. Based on the right to accompaniment, the Central Works Council (COR) was present at the discussions that the Labour Inspectorate held with the Executive Board, the faculties and institutes, the university library (UB), the works councils, and employees.

The COR is curious about the Labour Inspectorate’s findings and conclusions and has also issued an unsolicited advice based on these visits and previous discussions with the Executive Board. This advice is aimed at structural improvement of psychosocial workload and social safety at the UvA. The COR recommendations are in line with those issued by Occupational Health and Safety Service (Arbodienst) in its 2025 annual report or supplement them. The COR has based its recommendations on conclusions regarding the functioning of the management model, leadership, evaluation criteria, and the culture at the UvA regarding workload and social safety.

The unsolicited advice to the Executive Board can be read in full here (PDF, 6 pp., in Dutch). For questions or comments about this dossier or our advice, please contact the Central Works Council via cor-uva@uva.nl.
