Monday 6 October | 16:00-17:30 | Main entrance of the University Library, Vendelstraat 2-8
Please note: this session is in Dutch.
On 27 October, Amsterdam will celebrate its 750th anniversary. And the history of the UvA is inextricably linked with that of the city. In this walk, led by Reno Raaijmakers and Annette Vondra, past various UvA buildings such as the Agnietenkapel, the Oudemanhuispoort, the Allard Pierson Museum and the Maagdenhuis, the history of both the city and the university comes to life. We will begin the walk at the new University Library building on the Binnengasthuis premises. The former hospital has been lovingly restored and renovated, but also spectacularly expanded. A special gift to the city on its anniversary!
Reno Raaijmakers studied archaeology, history and art history at the University of Amsterdam. With his cultural agency Amsterdam City Walks, he has been organising guided tours, lectures, courses and trips for 25 years.
Annette Vondra studied archaeology and art history at the University of Amsterdam. As a guide, she is affiliated with the Allard Pierson Museum and the UvA Special Collections.
