A special evening with Robbert Dijkgraaf and Christoph Lindner
Robbert Dijkgraaf is a leading international voice on science and society. He is former Director of the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, former Dutch Minister of Education, Culture and Science, and President-Elect of the International Science Council. In 2024 he was elected Fellow of the Royal Society, one of the world’s most prestigious scientific institutions.
In his talk, Dijkgraaf will reflect on the role of science in a world facing global challenges and geopolitical tensions. He will explore how universities can help bridge the gap between science and society, and why international collaboration and science diplomacy are more essential than ever.
The programme also includes a short presentation and conversation with Christoph Lindner, President and Vice-Chancellor of the Royal College of Art and former Professor of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam, offering a perspective on the intersection of science, the arts, and global academic collaboration.
The evening begins with a welcome drink and an opportunity to meet and reconnect with fellow UvA alumni. After the programme, you are warmly invited to continue the conversation over drinks.
This event is free of charge for UvA alumni, students, staff, and their guests. The event is organised in collaboration with the Dutch Centre. Advance registration is required.
