Author talk with Miquel Bulnes

Miquel Bulnes writes historical novels inspired by Spanish and European history. His novel The Blood in Our Veins (Het bloed in onze aderen), set in Spain in the 1920s, was shortlisted for the Libris Literature Prize. His latest novel, The Turmoils (De beroerten), will be published in January 2027 and is set shortly before the Eighty Years’ War.

During the evening, Bulnes will talk about his writing process and how he turns historical events into fiction. With a Spanish mother and Dutch father, and living partly in Madrid and partly in the Netherlands, he will also share his experiences of living between two cultures.

Afterwards, there will be plenty of time to meet and (re)connect with fellow alumni from the three universities over drinks and snacks.
