The UvA Impact Challenge challenges interdisciplinary student teams to come up with innovative solutions to social issues. The competition is open to all UvA students.

Innovative solutions to social issues

The UvA Impact Challenge is an entrepreneurship competition that challenges students to think out-of-the-box and create innovative solutions to social and sustainability issues. Whether they only have an idea, or have already founded their own startup, everyone can participate.

The competition is an initiative of UvA Economics and Business (EB). After a successful 1st edition (formerly known as the UvA EB Challenge), UvA students from all disciplines can participate this year.

Positive impact

The aim of the competition is to make positive impact within 4 themes: responsible digital transformations, fair and resilient societies, sustainable prosperity and a healthy future. Thanks to the interdisciplinary nature of the competition, innovative solutions to these challenges are conceived from different areas of expertise.

Joining forces

Collaboration and co-creation are key. Students, companies and civil society organisations from the Amsterdam region join forces to make a positive impact for a better world. Students receive training in design thinking and learn how to present their business plan with conviction. They are coached by experts from the business community.

Prize money

Besides the valuable experience and new connections students gain, they also have a chance of winning prize money of €1,000 (audience award), €1,500 (ideation award), €2,500 (advanced award). They can use this prize money to implement their business plan, or to further expand their existing startup.
