
Omar Ramadan (1976) is the President of the Executive Board of Sophia Scholen, which is with 28 schools in the municipalities of Hillegom, Lisse, Katwijk, Noordwijk and Teylingen the largest institution for primary education in that region. Prior to his current position, he was the director of both RadarAdvies, a consultancy focused on social issues, as well as the Radicalisation Awareness Network Centre of Excellence (RAN CoE), which pools the European Commission’s efforts in preventing violent extremism. Ramadan received his graduation in Political Science as well Philosophy from the University of Amsterdam. At the time, he headed the Young Socialists within the Dutch Labour Party. After completing his studies, he acted as spokesperson for the Netherlands Court of Audit. Previously, Ramadan acted as (vice)chair of the supervisory boards of the Mondriaan Regional Training Centre for Vocational Education in the Hague, the Amsterdam-based residents’ support organisation !WOON, and Youké, a youth care institution in Utrecht.
