The University of Amsterdam is ranked 66th in the 2020-2021 Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, which were published on 2 September. This is a slight drop compared to last year, when the UvA was ranked in 62nd position.
As was the case last year, Dutch universities are strongly represented in the top 100 with seven universities ranking in the top 100. The UvA is once again the second highest ranked Dutch university this year, with only Wageningen University & Research placing higher (62). The top three listed institutions are University of Oxford, Stanford University and Harvard University.
The Times Higher Education Rankings are based on 13 performance indicators distributed over five categories: teaching (30%), research (30%), citations (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (2.5%). As was the case last year, the UvA recorded its highest scores in citations and international outlook.
