  • Profile

I am a PhD Candidate at the Amsterdam Emotional Memory Lab at the Department of Clinical Psychology. I am fascinated by the plasticity of emotional memory and how we can change these memories to advance treatments of anxiety and related disorders. In my research, I investigate the dissociation between the affective, cognitive, and behavioural  fear expression with the aim of better understanding the mechanisms of change in different treatment approaches. For my PhD project, I am running a clinical memory reconsolidation intervention study as well as experimental studies with healthy participants under the supervision of Prof. Merel Kindt and Dr. Renee M. Visser.

Biography: I graduated with from the University College Maastricht in Liberal Arts and Sciences with a focus on Psychology (2016, BSc, cum laude, with honors). I proceeded with my Research MSc in Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience at Maastricht University with a specialization in Psychopathology (2018, cum laude). I conducted my Master’s Thesis research during a 1-year internship at Harvard University under the supervision of Prof. Richard J. McNally and Prof. Tom Smeets. My time at the McNally lab sparked my interest in memory reconsolidation and the malleability of emotioinal memories that I pursued to investigate during my PhD.
