    Irene Villaescusa Illán is lecturer in Spanish and Hispanic cultures and literatures with over ten years’ international practice. She has taught at the University of Hong Kong, at the University of Amsterdam and the University of Utrecht. She is currently a guest researcher at the UvA.

    She obtained her PhD at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis (ASCA) at the University of Amsterdam with a project on Hispano-Filipino literature. Her research interests include peripheral or border Hispanic literatures, intercultural communication and globalization studies.
