To be eligible for the Neurobiology tracks of the Master's programme in Biomedical Sciences, you must hold a Bachelor's degree in Psychobiology or Biomedical Sciences.

Additional requirements

  • a bachelor’s Grade Point Average (GPA) of 6.5 or higher (according to the Dutch grading system). The GPA is the average of the bachelor’s course grades weighed by course/study load.
  • advanced knowledge in Neurobiology.  
  • you must have obtained the Bachelor's degree within 4 years
  • you must have completed a Bachelor's Thesis (experimental work) of at least 15 ECTS credits. The subject of the Bachelor's thesis must show affinity with the track and/or cluster of your choice.

Depending on the specialisation track you choose you need to have (some) advanced level of knowledge (2nd or 3rd year BSc) of:

  • Molecular Biology for the Molecular Neuroscience track
  • Neurophysiology for the Cellular and Network Neuroscience track
  • Neurobiology and brain disorders for the Psychopharmacology and Pathophysiology track
  • Neuroscience for the Cognitive Neurobiology and Clinical Neurophysiology track

Selection criteria

Up to, but no more than,  240 students are admitted to the Master’s Programme Biomedical Sciences. If more than the maximum number of candidates are found suitable, candidates will be selected on (in random order):

  • Study programme
  • GPA score
  • Study progress Bachelor’s programme
  • Subject of Bachelor’s thesis
  • Motivation

Requirements for Higher professional education level (HBO) Bachelor’s degree

The programme is also open - with certain restrictions - to students with a Bachelor's degree from a University of Applied Sciences (HBO) programme in Biomedical Sciences or a related area.

The individual student's motivation is also a key consideration. There is no schakelprogramma (pre-Master programme) available.

International applicants must also fulfil other general entry requirements set by the Faculty of Science regarding academic background, academic average and proficiency in English.
