It has been five years since a group of inspired Amsterdam scientists decided to set up their own magazine. The goal: to show that we are conducting very interesting scientific research here in Amsterdam, across a large range of fields. Several institutions in Amsterdam joined. And now, the 10th edition of Amsterdam Science Magazine is a fact!

As always you can read in the magazine what scientists in Amsterdam are working on and are inspired by. Would you rather hear them tell about this in person? On Monday, January 20, there will be an event around the new issue in Spui25, where three researchers who were involved with this issue will talk about their work.

Topics in Amsterdam Science #10:

• Why the common cold worsens asthma
• How memories are stored in your brain
• A double interview with Harro Bouwmeester and Toby Kiers about their hughe project on plant stress
• The importance of penguin poop for the South Pole ecosystem
• Why planet Earth contains relatively little carbon
• Hunting for neutrinos in the Mediterranean

... and more news from the fields of physics, chemistry, life sciences, mathematics, computer science and the medical sciences.

Where can you find the magazine?

The Amsterdam Science magazine can be found at various locations in the participating institutes and institutions, for example in the hall of the faculty building of the Faculty of Science at the Science Park. You can also read the latest issue online on the Amsterdam Science website.
