Finding alternative rooms in other locations for education on locations is our priority. If this is not possible, online education will be the temporary solution. More information will be provided about the duration and the solutions per user and education department.
Office spaces reopened
Following an investigation, it has been established that the air in the office rooms of the building is safe. The office rooms have therefore reopened as of Tuesday, 5 October. The self-study room on the first floor has also been reopened on 8 October. The lecture rooms, however, will remain closed for the time being, as they are ventilated in a different manner.
120 new motors
It has been found that a number of motors of the ventilation systems in the lecture rooms don’t work properly. As a precaution, we are replacing all motors in the coming period. On Friday 8 October the first batch of motors will be tested. It is not clear yet when it will be possible to resume all teaching activities in the building. Due to the delivery time of the 120 new motors, it could take several weeks before all rooms in the building are opened. On Monday 11 October we will have more information about this.
We have concluded a maintenance contract for all of the ventilation systems to ensure their safe and reliable use. Continual attention is paid to the timely replacement of filters and the modification of systems in line with the RIVM guidelines. If there is any case of system failure or doubt about the ventilation system, we investigate the case and take action accordingly.
