Eva Potharst combines clinical work at UvA minds with clinical research that is being carried out in a cooperation between UvA minds and the Research Institute of Child Development and Education of the UvA. She was trained as a Mental Health Psychologist and an Infant Mental Health Specialist at the Jeugdriagg, and afterwards performed her PhD thesis research on the development of preterm born children at the Emma’s Children’s hospital AMC and the Vrije Universiteit. She developed and wrote books on the interventions ‘Mindful with your baby’ and ‘Mindful with your toddler’, and studied the effectiveness of these and other interventions. She collaborates with Tilburg University on different projects, such as a randomized controlled trial on the effectiveness of Mindful with your baby on the neural synchrony between mother and the PhD trajectory of Lianne Hulsbosch on perinatal mental health for which she acted as a co-supervisor. She is an associate editor of the journal Mindfulness. Her research interests include innovative and transdiagnostic interventions, child and adolescent mental health, parental mental health, parenting, and parent-child interaction.
