Veerle van Wijngaarden is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, University of Amsterdam. Her PhD project, titled "Change What You Want? Sexual Subjectivity and the Politics of Desire," examines the intersections of sexuality, desire, and politics.

She has experience in teaching courses in ethics and social & political philosophy at the University of Amsterdam (2022-2026).

In the fall semester of 2024/2025, she was a visiting scholar at the ZRC SAZU Philosophy Department in Ljubljana. In the fall semester of 2025/2026, she was a visiting scholar at Freie Universität Berlin, and in the summer semester of 2025/2026 at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin and Goethe University Frankfurt.

Since 2023, she has been secretary board member of the Society for Women* in Philosophy Netherlands and Flanders (SW*IP-NL).
