Veerle van Wijngaarden is a PhD candidate in Philosophy at the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis, University of Amsterdam. Her PhD project, titled "Change What You Want? On the Politics of Sexuality and Sexual Desire," examines the intersections of sexuality, desire, and politics.
She teaches courses in social and political philosophy at the University of Amsterdam and is a research assistant on Jana Cattien’s project on the political significance of pain.
In Jan-Feb 2025, she was a visiting scholar at the ZRC SAZU Philosophy Department in Ljubljana, working with Alenka Zupančič. In the fall semester of 2025/2026, she will be a visiting scholar at Freie Universität Berlin, working with Manon Garcia.
Since 2023, she has been secretary board member of the Society for Women* in Philosophy Netherlands and Flanders (SW*IP-NL).
