Students who plan to follow the program in English, must be able to read academic texts, understand lectures, take part in classroom discussions and undertake written work in English. Applicants are therefore required to have sufficient proficiency in English (Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): level C1). 

In order to demonstrate this English proficiency, you must submit an English test score meeting our minimum test score requirements (see below for the tests and scores). The examination must have been taken no more than 2 years before the date of application.

Inability to do so means that your application cannot be processed.

The following tests are accepted:

• IELTS: Overall score of 7.0, with no individual band score below 6.5.
• TOEFL iBT: Overall score of 100, with minimum section scores of:
  • Reading: 24
  • Listening: 22
  • Speaking: 25
  • Writing: 24
• Cambridge Academic C1 Advanced: Overall score of 185, with minimum section scores of 180.
• Cambridge Academic C2 Proficiency: Overall score of 185, with minimum section scores of 180.
• LanguageCert Academic: Overall score of 75, with minimum section scores of 70.
• Pearson PTE Academic: Overall score of 76, with minimum section scores of 71.

Applicants are exempt from the English language proficiency requirement if they meet one of the following criteria:

• They have completed secondary or tertiary education in one of the following English-speaking countries: Australia, Canada (excluding the province of Quebec), New Zealand, Ireland, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, or the United States of America.
• They hold an English-language International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma.
• They have successfully completed the English examination as part of one of the following qualifications, including but not limited to:
  • Dutch VWO diploma;
  • Dutch HBO degree;
  • German Abitur;
  • Flemish Belgian ASO diploma.
• They hold GCSE/IGCSE qualifications together with three GCE A Levels.

To be admitted to the Executive Master’s in Health Informatics, we ask you to submit a portfolio. This portfolio provides insight into your background, motivation, English language proficiency and experience. The Admissions Committee will review it to determine your eligibility for the program.

Your portfolio should include the following documents:

1. Certified copy of your bachelor’s and/or master’s diploma
2. Certified transcript, including a description of completed courses
3. Curriculum vitae highlighting relevant work experience
4.  Proof of sufficient English language proficiency
5. Copy of the photo page of your passport (front and back)
6. Billing information: name or institution, department, attention to, address, postal code, city, country, cost center, or other administrative details
7. Signed intake form

Your portfolio contains personal information and must be submitted securely. Send an email to healthinformatics@amsterdamumc.nl. You will then receive a secure upload link from the program coordinator, allowing you to submit all documents securely.

After reviewing your portfolio, the Admissions Committee will decide whether you are admitted to the program.
If admitted, you will receive an official admission letter with further information on enrollment and the start of the program.
