The Software Engineering and Green IT track explores how we can design and maintain high-quality software systems with sustainability in mind. You will learn software engineering techniques while also investigating how IT can be made more energy-efficient and environmentally responsible. This track focuses on both functional and non-functional aspects of software development, including performance, maintainability, and environmental impact. It is designed for students who want to combine a strong foundation in software engineering with a forward-looking approach to Green IT.
This track is part of the joint Master’s in Computer Science, offered by the University of Amsterdam and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. You will follow courses across both institutions and graduate with a joint degree diploma.
This track is ideal for students who want to contribute to sustainable technologies and who enjoy building energy-efficient, reliable, scalable, and performant software systems. A strong interest in software engineering, software design, system analysis and sustainability is recommended.
