Here's why you want to study Conflict Resolution and Governance

Develop analytical skills for understanding conflict

You will be introduced to a range of approaches for understanding conflicts using real cases to connect theory to practice. You’ll look at how conflicts are analysed, governed and resolved.

Develop practical negotiation skills

In January, you will spend a week working with practitioners in an intensive workshop. You will practise negotiation and mediation using real international conflicts, including cases linked to peace missions.

Learn from practitioners

Professionals from the field contribute to different courses. You’ll learn from their experience in mediation, peacebuilding and conflict resolution.

Your thesis is tailored to you

The thesis period is longer than in a regular Master's, giving you more time and space to conduct fieldwork. Your supervision is tailored to your interests, research topic and preferred supervision style, with extra attention to research ethics.

Bring your own academic background

The programme is interdisciplinary, so it looks at conflict from more than a political perspective. You can bring perspectives from fields such as anthropology, sociology and other related disciplines.
In our interdisciplinary programme, we work with a diverse body of students, with diverse backgrounds, interests, and ambitions. We help them develop the necessary skills and knowledge, so they can work as researchers, practitioners, or both, at the intersection of conflict, conflict resolution, and governance.
