Central PhD Council (CPC): The CPC is composed of representatives from the faculty PhD councils and represents all PhD candidates at the UvA at the administrative level. It identifies issues and discusses them with the Executive Board.
Faculty PhD Councils: Represent the interests of PhD candidates within their respective faculties.
Confidential advisers: For cases involving inappropriate behaviour or integrity issues, you can contact a confidential adviser in confidence. There are separate advisers for social safety, academic integrity, individual legal position.
Ombudsperson: The ombuds officer listens, mediates and refers in cases involving collaboration issues, inappropriate behaviour or integrity concerns.
PNN (PhD Candidates Network of the Netherlands): The national representative body for PhD candidates. PNN represents UvA PhD candidates via the CPC and engages in dialogue with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW), Universities of the Netherlands (UNL), the Dutch Parliament, and media.
UNL (Universities of the Netherlands): Represents Dutch universities and lobbies for strong support structures for PhD candidates.
UMCNL (Netherlands Federation of University Medical Centres): Represents the interests of PhD candidates at Amsterdam UMC, including via collective labour agreements (CAOs).
Trade unions (FNV, FBZ, CNV, AOb, CMHF): Represent the general interests of employees, provide support in matters involving collective agreements, disputes or legal issues, and are part of the University Committee for Local Consultation (UCLO).
EPICUR Research: EPICUR is a network of European universities. As a PhD candidate, you can participate in international events, research networks, and activities for early career researchers.
Eurodoc: The European federation for PhD candidates and early career researchers. Eurodoc monitors policy and wellbeing across Europe, advises academic and political institutions, and organises international events and conferences.
