We strongly disagree with the email that was sent by this staff member. The UvA has offered a personal apology to the student concerned. The UvA is an inclusive and diverse university. Nationality or political beliefs are never acceptable causes for rejecting someone.

We are therefore taking this incident very seriously. We immediately made clear to the staff member concerned that their email response was not acceptable. We have asked the staff member to meet with us to discuss the matter. On the basis of this meeting, we will decide which further actions will be taken.
