Dr G.K. Sluiter (b. 1970) has been appointed professor of International Criminal Law, in particular international law of criminal procedure, at the Faculty of Law of the Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA).

Göran Sluiter mainly conducts research on international law of criminal procedure as applied by among others the Yugoslavia Tribunal and the International Criminal Court. In his research he focuses on determining general doctrines within the framework of international law of criminal procedure, which could form the basis of improved procedural law. Sluiter was awarded a Vidi subsidy by NWO (Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research) in June 2005 for his research proposal International Criminal Procedure - In search of general rules and principles.

Sluiter has been working at the department of Criminal Law of the UvA as senior university lecturer since 2004. He is furthermore deputy judge at the Courts of Utrecht and The Hague. He is also member of the editorial board of International Criminal Law Review and of the editorial committee of the Journal of International Criminal Justice. Together with Prof. André Klip he is responsible for the Annotated Leading Cases of International Criminal Tribunals. He has worked at Utrecht University as teacher in international law from 2000 till 2004.
