Together we achieve more | UvA Strategy 2027 – 2032

Our university brings together curious, ambitious and engaged people. More than ever, we need to harness the power of science to address the urgent and complex issues of today and tomorrow. With an open perspective, and together with partners in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Europe and the wider world, we are working towards a resilient, healthy and sustainable future.
Four ambitions

Four strategic ambitions guide how we work and study together, our role as a knowledge partner, our contribution to societal challenges, and the opportunities we create for everyone's talent. These ambitions are the compass for our teaching, research, societal impact, and the way we work and study across the organisation.

A sum of perspectives

The UvA’s strength lies in the combination of strong disciplines, perspectives and talents within a single academic community: One UvA. By connecting that diversity and taking shared responsibility for education, research and societal impact, we reinforce one another and increase our relevance to society.

How the strategy was developed

This strategy was shaped through dialogue with a broad cross‑section of our university community. Students, staff, representative bodies and administrators contributed different perspectives to the conversations that underpin this course of action. External partners were also involved to provide an outside‑in perspective. The strategy provides the overarching framework for the university’s development and serves as the basis for faculty strategies and UvA‑wide policy frameworks.
