At the end of the academic year, the Faculty of Humanities awards an Education Award to a course that is innovative or uses inspiring educational methods.

Winners 2026

The Master's course How Music Works: Inside the Musical Mind by Makiko Sadakata is the winner of the Humanities Education Award 2026. According to the jury, the course showcases the breadth of the humanities and excels at connecting theory with practice. The course Authors in Focus: Contemporary American Writers received the most votes and won the Audience Award.

The nominees

All students and staff of the Faculty of Humanities were invited to nominate a course until Friday 8 May. From the nominated courses, the jury made a selection. Voting was possible until Tuesday June 23.

Six courses were in the running for the Education Award 2026:

  • Authors in Focus: Contemporary American Writers - Marc Farrant
  • How Music Works: Inside the Musical Mind - Makiko Sadakata
  • Performing Ecokritiek: Theater, theorie en het actuele discours - Lisa Skwirblies
  • Publieksfilosofie - Daan Roovers
  • Visual Art and Power - Anna Lawrence
