The Central Student Council (CSR) and the Central Works Council (COR) discussed the occupation and eviction of the Amsterdam Academic Club in a joint meeting (GV) on 27 January. From this meeting, a consensus was reached that a broad discussion on the UvA's ties with the fossil industry is necessary. The GV is happy to see that such a university-wide discussion will now be initiated in the coming months. The GV sees an important role for the co-determination bodies within the university, both at central (COR and CSR) and decentralised (faculty work and student councils) level in regard to this topic.

Climate change is without doubt the greatest challenge of our current time, which must therefore be prioritised within the academic community in research and education, but also within our own operations. Part of this is that the university must be able to take responsibility regarding the companies and institutions it cooperates or aligns itself with in any sense, and hereby place special importance on the reduction of the impact on climate change. 

The CSR and COR therefore call on all students and employees to make themselves heard if they want to contribute to the discussion around the university's ties with fossil industries.
