Prof. W.J.M. (Willy) Spaan

Willy Spaan has been a member of the Supervisory Board of the University of Amsterdam since 1 May 2021. He has been appointed by the Minister of Education, Culture and Science until 1 May 2029. Spaan is a member of the Audit Committee and a member of the Education and Research Committee of the Supervisory Board.
Prof. Willy Spaan (1954) is emeritus professor of Fundamental Virology at Leiden University, and from 2015 to 2020 was chair of the board of Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC). Spaan has also been chair of the board of the Jeroen Bosch Hospital, chair of the Center for Infectious Diseases and head of the Medical Microbiology Department of the LUMC.
