Perceptions of older employees

Older employees are increasingly expected to continue to play an active role in the labour market for longer. At the same time, perceptions of older employees are not overly positive: the stereotypical view is of employees who are loyal and dependable, but not flexible or innovative. However, these perceptions do not reflect reality, Martine van Selm argues in her inaugural lecture.
