The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is the joint second best Dutch university in the World Reputation Rankings 2012 compiled by Times Higher Education (THE). In the global rankings, the UvA is placed in the 71-80 group.

The University of Amsterdam (UvA) is the joint second best Dutch university in the World Reputation Rankings 2012 compiled by Times Higher Education (THE). In the global rankings, the UvA is placed in the 71-80 group. Last year, the UvA was the joint third best Dutch university and placed in the 81-90 group in the global rankings.

In total, there are five Dutch universities in the global top 100. In addition to the UvA, this includes TU Delft (51-60), Utrecht University (71-80), Leiden University (91-100) and Wageningen University (91-100). Netherlands is joint third, together with Japan, in the rankings by country behind the United States and the United Kingdom.

Harvard University (USA) holds top spot in the World Reputation Rankings, followed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and the University of Cambridge (UK).

The THE World Reputation Rankings is based on the personal rankings of 31,000 academics from 149 countries. They compiled a top 15 of the most important institutions in their field. The THE World Reputation Rankings is separate from the prestigious THE World University Ranking. This ranking list is published each autumn.
