As with all other universities, the UvA has seen a slight increase in its financial scope for the coming years as a result of the government’s plans (which are now known). Partly for this reason, the UvA is presenting a sound, balanced budget. This has also been made possible by careful financial management in recent years, resulting in a strong capital and liquidity position. 2027 is also the starting year for the new strategy, which is summarised in this image:
The Executive Board invites students and staff to comment on the Draft Budget 2027. Questions and comments are welcome and can be submitted by email (financiënencontrol-bb@uva.nl). The consultation period runs until 19 October 2026.
The draft budget for 2027 is being submitted to the student and staff representative bodies for advice. The responses from students and staff will be compiled and, together with a response from the Executive Board, presented to the Central Works Council and the Central Students’ Council. The consultation period for the central student and staff representative bodies ends on 23 November 2026. The consultation period for the decentralised participation councils ends on 9 November 2026. The Joint Assembly (GV) has not yet approved the broad outlines of the budget.
Once the central participation councils have issued their recommendations, the final 2027 budget will be adopted in December of this year. The plan is for the Supervisory Board to approve the budget at its meeting on 14 December 2026. The final budget will be published on the UvA website.
