A binding study advice (BSA) applies to all UvA Bachelor’s programmes.

Already a UvA student? Check the BSA of your programme on our student website.

What is a BSA?
During the first academic year of your Bachelor’s programme, you must earn a minimum number of ECTS in first-year courses. If you fail to do so, and no extenuating circumstances apply, you will be issued a negative binding study advice (BSA). This means you will not be able to continue your studies.

To whom does a BSA apply?
Each student receives a positive or negative BSA at the end of their first academic year.

Guidance and advice
The UvA has a support system in place for students. You can always contact one of your study advisers for help - they monitor your study progress closely and can provide guidance and advice.
