Patrick Arhin is a PhD candidate with the Governance and Inclusive Development group at the Amsterdam Institute for Social Science Research (AISSR), part of the University of Amsterdam.
His Academic and professional experience spans across Africa, Europe, and South America. He holds a joint master's degree in Regional Development Planning and Management from the Technical University of Dortmund, Germany, and the Federal University of ABC, São Paulo, Brazil.
He also holds a bachelor’s degree in Planning and Social Development from Christian Service University, Ghana. Patrick’s research focuses on relational justice in corporate-community mining negotiations with a specific focus on lithium mining, examining how power asymmetries shapes mining negotiation process and outcomes. His work connects these issues to the broader debates on the politics of sustainability transitions and the justice dimensions of critical mineral extraction.
Beyond Academia, Patrick has worked in both government and civil society space in Ghana, contributing to impact-driven projects in women’s empowerment, community development, health, water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).
