  • About Berit

Berit is a Research Software Engineer at the UvA Humanities Labs. She develops web applications to study perception of and memory for music (https://www.amsterdammusiclab.nl/).

After a master in Systematic Musicology in Hamburg, Berit conducted PhD research at the Meertens Institute and the UvA Music Cognition Group about variation of melodies in oral transmission. This research was based on computational comparisons between melodies. After this project, she continued combining programming and humanities research as part of the Research Software Lab of the Utrecht University Centre for Digital Humanities, before returning to the UvA as part of the Amsterdam Music Lab.
