  • Profile

Kristina Krake is a lecturer in Scandinavian Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Her research focuses on democratisation processes, comparative analysis and Scandinavian political, social and cultural history. In particular her research addresses the Scandinavian resilience to fascism and communism by examining the Scandinavian countries' response to anti-democratic movements in the interwar period. The findings of these empirical studies contribute to the ongoing research debate on the Nordic democracies and the Nordic model.

Kristina Krake has an educational background in Nordic Area Studies and History. She received a MA from the University of Copenhagen and obtained the PhD degree from the University of Southern Denmark. Her dissertation has recently been awarded with the Danish Labour History Prize 2018.

Kristina Krake teaches a wide range of topics such as Scandinavian History, The Viking Age and Danish and European Iiterary history. Her classes are designed to encourage participation and critical thinking, while providing the students with analytical, rhetorical and academic writing skills. Kristina Krake is also engaged in dissemination projects. She has cooperated with the Danish National Archives on an online portal, making primary sources of the interwar period available to the public (for further information, see here:
