Bent-Andreas Mücke is a PhD candidate at the Developmental Psychology Department of the University of Amsterdam and a member of the New Science of Mental Disorders (NSMD) consortium. His research focuses on developing and testing personalized interventions for addictive behaviors, with a particular focus on cannabis use disorder.

Bent-Andreas combines methods from behavioral economics, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and cognitive interventions such as Episodic Future Thinking (EFT) to better understand and target the mechanisms underlying self-control and decision-making in addiction. His work employs single-case experimental designs (SCEDs) to evaluate treatment effects at the individual level, with the goal of supporting long-term recovery and relapse prevention.

Before starting his PhD, Bent-Andreas studied Psychology and Neuroscience (BSc) and Cognitive & Clinical Neuroscience (MSc Research) at Maastricht University, specializing in drug development and neurohealth. He also worked as a social worker in Frankfurt am Main, focussing on mental health and addiction care, where he gained practical experience with clients facing complex challenges.

His broader research interests include the personalization of treatment for addiction driven by empirical data, harm reduction and progressive drug policy.
