Nuoyi Wang is a Ph.D. candidate in the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis and part of the Department of Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam. Meanwhile, Nuoyi is a junior researcher in the Junior Research Group Digitalization and Social Transformation at the Institute for Advanced Studies Vienna. She holds a Master's degree and a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Communication Studies from Fudan University in China.
Her research interests lie in the political economy and politics of artificial intelligence, digital platforms and apps, with a particular focus on the evolving global dynamics of platform power and Generative AI ecosystems. Her doctoral project specifically explores the politics of “AI agents” and the underlying computational infrastructures and geopolitical power relations between the U.S. and China. In addition, she is interested in critical app and data studies, AI imaginary, digital capitalism, critical social theory, digital feminism, and labor studies.
