S. (Shahin) Nasiri MA

I am a PhD-Researcher in Political Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Amsterdam (UvA). My areas of interest include phenomenology, ontology, philosophical anthropology, theories of freedom, political philosophy, critical theory, democratic theory, migration and citizenship. My current research project concerns a phenomenological inquiry into the notion of ‘freedom’, examined from the perspective of refugees. Before joining UvA, I studied Political Theory (LSE), Philosophy (Leiden) and Aerospace Engineering (Delft).

    Shahin Nasiri is a PhD Researcher in Political Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy, University of Amsterdam (UvA). His areas of interest include phenomenology, political philosophy, theories of freedom, ontology, Heidegger, philosophical anthropology, Wittgenstein, critical theory, Castoriadis, Lefort, democratic theory, quantum logic, migration and citizenship.

    Shahin’s current research project concerns a phenomenological inquiry into the notion of ‘freedom’, examined from the perspective of refugees. For his research project, he received the Peter Baehr Prize and the Young Talent Award, Prins Bernard Cultuurfonds. Before joining UvA, Shahin studied Political Theory in London (LSE), Philosophy (Leiden) and Aerospace Engineering (Delft). 

    Shahin is a regular contributor and co-editor of Critique of Law and Politics, an initiative of the Persian-speaking platform pecritique, and co-guest editor of the special issue of Filosofie-tijdschrift (2017).
