Sharifah is a PhD candidate. Her research focuses on how community-based youth workers in Dutch neighborhoods pursue social justice by establishing practices that meet the wishes and needs of young people in their environment. By studying youth workers’ pedagogical relationship building, motivations, the structures they choose for their practices and how they relate to (local) institutions, Sharifah aims to learn more about processes of politicization in social work.
