Lennart is a research assistent at the Early Modern History Department at the University of Amsterdam. He received his Bachelor (BA) in Dutch Language and Culture and completes his Research Master (RMA) in Dutch Literature and Culture in 2026, both at Utrecht University. As from 2025, he is a research trainee and is appointed as research assistent at the Vici-project 'Daily Bread. A Comparative Urban History of Early Modern Food Protests', supervised by prof. dr. Maartje van Gelder.

My research interests are at the intersection of Dutch early modern literature, social-cultural history and the history of knowledge. I am interested in how knowledge in the early modern Low Countries was being constructed, how it circulated and which (literary) actors were involved. I focus on power dynamics and the formation of knowledge and archives. Who decides which histories are being remembered or forgotten? What are the implications?

As an early modernist of Dutch literary culture, I am in particular interested in multimedial forms of literature, such as protest songs, plays and emblems.
